Joan developed a passion for singing at a young age. She listened to her mother constantly singing standards and classical music around the house.  In high school, her talent was recognized not only in singing but she learned to play the flute.  Although she studied piano with her grandfather Ben Roberson, a well known pianist, her preference was to play “by ear.”  From age 3 she sang with the church choir and for five years was director. She has been a popular guest soloist at many social events and  churches.

Nine years ago her grandmother Florine Ponton, introduced Joan to  Henry Boote, a well known entertainer .  Impressed with her voice and style, he invited her to join his group, taught her much about performing and took her under his wing.  Joan traveled across country with the Henry Boote Orchestra and sang with him weekly at Waterloo Sues in Hackensack, NJ.  At the invitation of the National Elks, they have performed in Reno, Orlando, Wildwood, Trump Plaza, Borgata of Atlantic City, Charlotte, and throughout the Metropolitan area.

Gospel music is Joan’s first love.  She will always lift her voice to praise God for the gift He has given her  … her voice.   

Keith Theall - bass & vocals

“THE BACKBONE” Keith got his start with "The Milkmen”,a 60`s retro sounding band covering R.E.M, Dire Straits, and Beatle songs. Formed in 1988, Keith, his Brother Greg, and their long-time friends still perform today. Then came "Rock N A Hard Place”, formed from Milkmen Members and other friends from 1994-96. The band played more contemporary music of the "day". From 96-99, Keith played in "No Frills (classic Rock), "My Dog Petey"(contemporary/classic rock), "Jerry El", an Elvis Impersonator”. The next band was "Trac Down”, a classic rock trio that worked every weekend in 1998. In 1999 this led Keith into "Jukebox Memories”. The band played the best of the "oldies” as well as Keith’s first love: Motown. Keith still does an occasional gig with Jukebox.

All of these great bands and friends have led Keith to his current position: Bassist/vocalist of Soul Groove. Formed with Mike Muro in 2003, this band performs the best of everything. He also has the sometimes unenviable job of organizing and booking the band.

Keith is heavily influenced by Motown’s house bassist and "Funk Brother” James Jamerson, Paul McCartney, Paul S Denman (Sade), and Flea.

Michael Muro -lead guitar & vocals

“What ever you need”. Mike, with bassist Keith Theall, are the founding members of this Rock and Soul combo. He has been performing in front of audiences for nearly 30 years playing in various groups in many different capacities including drummer, bassist and even back-up keyboards from time to time. His musical career spanned the north east in clubs from NY, NJ and PA.

Mike's portfolio combines the influential styles of the British Invasion, Motown, and all the way through the heavy rumblings of 90’s grunge music.

Russ Davis - vocals & keyboards

Russ formed his first band while in the third grade and has been performing ever since. Some of his more memorable gigs have been performing for our troops during Desert Storm and performing on New Years’ Eve at the Sands Casino in Atlantic City. Russ has performed with a variety of bands including the NYC band, "City Sounds". 

More recently, Russ played as a backing musician with the fabulous Doo Wop group, the "Chimetones". With the Chimetones, he has shared the stage with such notable acts as; the Coasters, the Drifters, the Shirelles, the Happenings and Johnny Maestro & the Brooklyn Bridge.
